Scratching the Surface, an exhibition of projected, installed and live drawing, The Dartington Gallery 2010
2009
Or A Breathing Space / coming up for air
Performance-exhibition of live movement, drawing, page, screen and projection.
Scratching the surface was the outcome of a residency in the Dartington Gallery in which I explored repetition and surface as sites for drawing, collage, moving and still image, projecting, writing and resting a while. The exhibition was a juxtaposition of elements – composing a rhythmic and looping dynamic between surface, gravity, image, performer – and audience presence.
I invited a small group of wonderful students from the interdisciplinary choreographic module ‘Writing on the Body’ that I led at Dartington College of Arts between 2008-2010 to join me in an opening event and generate the final works of the exhibition. These included Mads, Sophie, Charlotte and Yair.
