‘what remains and is to come’, performance-installation and artist book in collaboration with choreographer Rosanna Irvine
2012 – ongoing
A collaboration of Katrina Brown & Rosanna Irvine
A performance-installation working with the materiality of charcoal, paper, body and breath
what remains and is to come is an immersive performance event (50 mins duration) with the residue of the event remaining as installed work.
The performance is a dynamic activation of material processes between paper, charcoal, bodies and breath. The audience is mobile and invited into the upcloseness of the event. A work-like approach, repetitive action, systematic enquiry and a concern with treating materials not as tools but as equal in the making process are guiding principles in the project.
what remains and is to come has been presented at venues including Tramway Glasgow, Nightingale Brighton, Backlit Gallery Nottingham, KARST Plymouth, Het Veemtheater Amsterdam, Actionable Image Zagreb, Festival for Ephemeral
Arts Sokolowsko Poland.
The artist publication WHAT REMAINS AND IS TO COME: A DOCUMENT 2014 is an extension of the live work and includes photographic image, scores and essays by Ramsay Burt, Mark Leahy, Ivana Ivković. This publication was funded by Arts Council England and by subscribers.
